How long does a commercial cleaning robot actually run?

A buyer searching for cleaning robot runtime usually wants one number: will this machine cover my shift. The honest answer is that a scrubber does not have one runtime. It has at least two, and they come from different jobs done by the same water.

The C5 is rated at 3 hours scrubbing and 8 hours dry-mopping on its 24 V, 80 Ah battery. Scrubbing draws down a pump, a brush motor and often a water heater at the same time as the drive motors; dry-mopping draws only the drive and the mop head. That is not a discrepancy to explain away, it is the spec doing its job: it tells you the two tasks are not comparable and a schedule built around one figure while running the other will be wrong by a factor of two or more.
What that means for your shift.
If your floor plan needs wet scrubbing for most of the run, three hours is the number to build a rota around, not eight. An eight-hour shift on a 3-hour scrubbing budget needs either a charging window built into the day or a second battery pack ready to swap in, and both of those are floor-plan decisions, not settings you choose at delivery. If the bulk of the floor only needs dry-mopping between deeper scrubs, the same machine covers most of a shift on one charge and the scrubbing pass becomes a scheduled task rather than the whole job.
Charging time sets the rest of the day.
The C5 recharges in 1.5 hours. Against a 3-hour scrubbing runtime, that is a charge cycle roughly half the length of a run, which is workable inside a lunch break or a shift changeover if the dock is placed where the robot ends its route rather than where it is convenient to install. Against an 8-hour dry-mop run, the 1.5-hour charge barely matters because one charge already covers most shift lengths.
Say what is not published, too.
The catalogue gives runtime and charge time for scrubbing and dry-mopping as separate figures; it does not publish a runtime for a mixed route that switches between the two modes within one pass, because that number depends on how much of your floor is wet-scrubbed versus dry-mopped, which is a property of your building, not the machine. No manufacturer figure covers that case, and a supplier who quotes one is quoting a guess dressed as a spec.
The buying question this actually answers.
Do not ask "what is the runtime": ask what fraction of your floor needs scrubbing versus dry maintenance, and size the rota against the lower of the two published figures for whichever task dominates. A single 80 Ah battery with a 1.5-hour recharge is either enough for a full shift or the start of a swap-and-charge routine, and which one it is depends entirely on your floor plan, not on the robot.
