
What "the D1 Max clears an 80 cm gap" actually means for a site survey
A single obstacle figure on a spec sheet answers a narrower question than a route does, and the D1 Max publishes enough separate figures to answer the real one.
- Jump height and gap crossing are two different numbers that happen to share a value on this platform.
- AGIBOT states the D1 Max at 80 cm for both: it can jump a step 80 cm high, and it can cross a horizontal gap 80 cm wide, such as a trench or a break in a walkway. The two figures being equal here is a fact about this specific platform, not a rule; treating 80 cm as a single all-purpose obstacle rating misses that a route with a tall step and a route with a wide gap are different questions the spec sheet happens to answer with the same number.
- Clearance under load is the figure that decides whether a laden robot fits under something, and it is smaller than the platform's own standing height.
- AGIBOT publishes 50 cm of clearance height under load, well below the D1 Max's own dimensions of 920 x 480 x 570 mm standing. That is the number to check against a pipe rack, a low beam or a vehicle underside the platform needs to pass beneath while carrying its rated 25 to 30 kg payload, not the standing height on the general spec sheet.
- Minimum passage width is a separate constraint from either of those, and it is the one a site survey usually forgets to measure.
- At a stated 50 cm, the narrowest gap the D1 Max can still pass through is close to its own 480 mm standing width, which means a corridor, a gap between stored pallets or a gate has very little margin either side. A route planned from the jump-height figure alone can fail entirely on a passage that is never jumped or crossed, only squeezed through.

The D1 Max, a wheel-legged quadruped with a wheel at the end of each leg, crossing a rock outcrop and then a narrow stone causeway over open water: the kind of route a single "80 cm" spec-sheet figure cannot describe on its own.
None of these five figures substitutes for the others, and a route survey needs all five measured against the platform's own numbers, not against a single 80 cm headline. A corridor 55 cm wide passes the jump-height test and fails the passage-width one; a pipe rack at 55 cm passes a standing-height glance and fails the clearance-under-load test once the payload is loaded. Measure the narrowest point, the lowest overhead clearance and the tallest single obstacle on the actual route before assuming one published number covers the route.
